The Sepia itinerary along the Côtes
du Rhône road:
The Sepia itinerary travels through a French administrative curiosity. This area of four towns lying within the Drôme county is actually part of Vaucluse ! Rosebushes stand at the front of the rows of vines, which grow along with lavender and broom, endowing the area with unrivalled charm. The Côtes du Rhône wines are celebrated here, justly famous and admired. Among them stand proudly the Côtes du Rhône Villages Visan and Valréas. This area, known as the Papal Enclave, was purchased by the Popes from the Dauphiné, then enlarged with annexation of the Knights Templar commandery in Richerenches. The Papal Enclave offers rich, varied heritage, with Simiane castle and the Cardboard Museum in Valréas, and the Templar buildings in Richerenches.
